Website owner: Born To Help Others
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern the use of the website www.borntohelpothers.org (the "Website") and the making of donations to Born To Help Others ("BTHO", "we", "us"), a non-profit association under Swiss law with its registered seat in Zurich, Switzerland.
1. About US
Born To Help Others is a non-profit association pursuant to Art. 60 et seq. of the Swiss Civil Code. Our purpose is to fund and implement sustainable development projects in Angola, including education, healthcare, nutrition and water, and community support, in partnership with local communities.
Use of the Website
The Website provides information about our organisation, projects, and impact, and enables online donations, newsletter subscriptions, and volunteer or partnership enquiries.
You agree to use the Website only for lawful purposes and in a way that does not infringe the rights of others or restrict their use of the Website. In particular, you may not attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Website, its servers, or connected systems, introduce malicious code, or scrape or reproduce content without authorisation.
Donations
3.1 General
Donations to BTHO are voluntary contributions made without consideration. A donation does not create any entitlement to goods, services, or specific outcomes.
3.2 One-time and recurring donations
You may make one-time donations or set up a recurring donation ("Sustaining Partner"). Recurring donations can be cancelled at any time with effect for future payments by contacting us at contact@borntohelpothers.org [or via your donor account, if applicable].
3.3 Payment processing
Donations are processed by third-party payment service providers. By donating, you also accept the terms of the respective payment provider. BTHO does not store your full payment card details.
3.4 Use of funds
Donations are used for the charitable purposes of the association. Where a donation is made to a specific campaign (e.g. the school construction in Angola), we will use it for that campaign. If a campaign is overfunded, completed, or cannot be carried out, we reserve the right to allocate the funds to a similar project that best serves our charitable purpose — in keeping with our commitment to transparency, any such reallocation will be disclosed in our annual report.
3.5 Refunds
Donations are in principle non-refundable. In the case of demonstrable errors (e.g. duplicate transactions, incorrect amounts due to technical faults), please contact us within 30 days at contact@borntohelpothers.org and we will examine a refund in good faith.
3.6 Donation receipts
Upon request [or automatically], donors receive a donation confirmation. Whether a donation is tax-deductible depends on the laws of your country of residence; Swiss donors may deduct donations subject to our recognised tax-exempt status and cantonal rules. BTHO provides no tax advice.
3.7 Anti-money-laundering
We reserve the right to refuse or return donations where their acceptance would violate applicable law, our statutes, or our ethical principles, or where the origin of the funds is unclear.
Newsletter
By subscribing to our newsletter you consent to receiving periodic emails about our projects and campaigns. You may unsubscribe at any time via the link included in every newsletter.
